The Lebanese Muslim Association (LMA) will be holding it’s third annual Sydney Muslim Conference (SMC) this year, celebrating the ethnic diversity of our communities and facilitating a space to enhance and promote social cohesion. This one-day conference will bring together a wide range of speakers on a variety of topics, addressing the needs of an increasingly multicultural Muslim Community.

This year, you’re invited to join us for SMC 2016 titled “Bearer of Good Tidings,” a conversation on the relevance, importance and leadership of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him). Learn about the legacy of the Prophet (PBUH), about his achievements, what lessons we can take from him, and how best to apply and continue applying his Sunnah, especially in a modern, western context.

Sessions will cover a range of contentious yet topical issues, such as racism, sexism, international and local politics and cultural divides.

Featuring the biggest lineup of international and local speakers in the Muslim Community, including:

  • Imam Zaid Shakir
  • Dr Shadee Elmasry
  • Shaykha Safia Shahid
  • Shaykh Wesam Cherkawi
  • Shaykh Ibrahim Abdullah
  • Dr Randa Abdel Fattah
  • Dr Mehal Krayem
  • Shaykh Anthony Andrist
  • Dr Nada Ibrahim

Attendees will also have the opportunity to engage in workshops that will enable fun, creative and interactive avenues to explore the concepts and ideas addressed during the conference.

AIM
The primary aim of this conference is to bring young Australian Muslims from diverse cultural backgrounds together to highlight how Islam plays a positive role in a harmonious society.

VISION
The conference will be held over the course of a single day. The vision is to create a relaxed, informative and inspiring event that will facilitate open dialogue and instill a sense of social cohesion.
